![💰 3 Senior Tax Breaks You Might Not Know About in 2026
Body: It’s tax season, and for my clients over 65, there are some massive opportunities to keep more of your hard-earned money this year. If you’re living on a fixed income or thinking about selling your home, make sure these 3 items are on your radar:
1️⃣ The New $6,000 "Senior Bonus" Deduction: Under the new OBBBA laws, most seniors 65+ can now claim an additional $6,000 deduction ($12,000 for married couples) on top of the standard deduction. This is a game-changer for reducing your taxable income!
2️⃣ The Homestead Exemption: Many counties in [City Name] offer a "Senior Freeze" or an additional Homestead Exemption that lowers your property tax bill once you hit age 65. If you haven't applied for this yet, you're essentially leaving money on the table.
3️⃣ The Home Sale Capital Gains Exclusion: Planning to downsize? You can likely exclude up to $250,000 (or $500,000 if married) of the profit from your home sale from being taxed. This is why many of my clients can move into a smaller, nicer home without a huge tax hit.
